Earliest Chair 9 Opening in Years!


Earliest Chair 9 Opening in Years!

A lot of people have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Continental Divide's Chair 9 and yesterday saw one of the earliest Chair 9 openings in the lift's history! The snowfall so far this year has been above average and the 16" we received on Monday and Tuesday gave us what we needed to get The Ridge open. Chair 9 is currently providing access to Patrol Bowl and Rookie Road with the chance of more opening soon. Chair 9 will continue to operate for the 2010 - 2011 season as long as conditions permit.

The good news doesn't stop there; there is more snow in the forecast for this weekend! Meteorologists can't agree on exactly how much we may get, but keep an eye on the weather Friday night and Saturday because it could be a powder weekend. Be sure to sign up for our custom snow reports so you don't miss another powder day.


Family Race Day - Saturday, December 18th

Join us on Saturday, December 18th for the first Family Race Day of the 2010 - 2011 season! Last season's Family Race Day was hugely popular and this season we are excited to have a dual slalom course so you can race side-by-side against your friends and family. Medals will be awarded to the top finishers. All ages, abilities and disciplines are invited to register the morning of in the Subaru tent at the base of the Loveland Basin at no cost.


Freeride Team Informational Meeting and First Session!

The Loveland Freeride Team will host an informational meeting and their first session on the season this Saturday, December 11th at 8am in the North East Corner of the Basin Cafeteria. Join professional skier Eben Mond as you learn the basics of back country skiing, choosing lines through challenging terrain, skiing in all types of conditions and more. It's not often Loveland receives over 100" by December, but this season we have! Including the 4 inches that fell Wednesday night, our year-to-date total is 105 inches of natural snowfall! As you could probably imagine, with this much snow conditions are absolutely amazing. There is not cost to participate, although a valid lift ticket and credit card and driver's license for deposit are required for deposit.

Loveland's Closing Weekend Goes Out With a Bang!

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, but at least we are going out with a bang! Loveland will close for the 2009 - 2010 season this Sunday, May 2nd but not before we get another powder day! Since last Thursday we have received over 2 feet of snow with another 8 inches of fresh snow this morning, Thursday the 29th! That's nearly 3 feet in a week and the forecast is calling for it to keep on falling! We're not sure how much we may get, but one thing for certain is that closing weekend conditions are going to be phenomenal! Don't miss it!

Your ski area closed already? Friends don't have a Loveland pass? Bring a 2009-2010 season pass from any ski area and receive one adult lift ticket for only $30! Take advantage of all this great spring snow because this offer is only good through the end of this season.

Tall Tees & Tacos - Session #2 - This Saturday, May 1st!
It's your last chance to strut your stuff! Join us this Saturday, May 1st for the second session of Tall Tees & Tacos, an amateur slopestyle competition with $10,000 in prizes. Corn Harvest Benefit Ski Party Raises $7600 for CAIC !
On behalf of Loveland Ski Area we would like to thank everyone who came out to support the 9th Annual Corn Harvest Benefit Ski Party. Participants were treated with nearly 2 feet of fresh snow after a huge spring storm before the skies cleared in the afternoon for a killer apres party. The sun was shinning, the New Belgium Beer was flowing, and the Blue Canyon Boys got everyone up and dancing on the patio outside the Rathskeller. Overall the event was a complete success with $7600 raised for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center!

With only a few weeks left in the 2009-2010 ski season it's time to get those last ski days in before we are closed for the summer! Closing day has been set for Sunday, May 2nd, although the snow and conditions are so great you wouldn't think the end of the season was right around the corner. With a couple great events coming up, live music and great spring skiing still to be had, make Loveland your choice for some outdoor fun!

Loveland Derby Celebrates 50 Years - This Weekend!
The Loveland Derby is the largest amateur race in North America and this weekend the event celebrates its 50th anniversary! The Derby will take place at Loveland Valley with a special alumni race and apres party on April 16th. All racers are invited to come out and celebrate the end of the 09-10 season with costumes, BBQs and fast paced racing fun for the entire family. Charity Poker Run This Saturday!
This Saturday, April 17th, Sunglass Management Design will be hosting a charity Poker Run at Loveland Ski Area. All proceeds from this event will go to the Autism Society of Colorado. Autism is a disorder of the brain that is currently affecting 1 in 135 children in Colorado. Register the morning of on the patio for only $50 including a lift ticket, or $20 if you already have a pass. Then ski around the mountain to visit the dealers and build your hand. The best hand at the end of the day wins. Tons of prizes, live music and great skiing all for a good cause!

Spring skiing is in full swing here at Loveland Ski Area! More than a foot of fresh snow fell this week and with clear skies and sunshine, the skiing is the best it has been all season. The forecast is calling for mostly clear skies and warm temperatures over the weekend. The end of the season isn't far off so take advantage of these great conditions and beautiful weather before it is too late!

New Belgium Brewery's Scavenger a Crazy Success!
It looked more like Halloween than Easter last weekend here at Loveland, but then again it was New Belgium Brewery's Scavenger Hunt. Nearly 200 people showed up in costumes ready to search the mountain, win prizes and of course drink great beer! Check out all the craziness caught on video . As everyone who attended already knows, this is not an event you want to miss out on next season!

The Loveland Poker Run - Autism Society Benefit - Saturday, April 17th
Spice up that already great day of skiing with an on-hill game of poker! The only thing different with this poker game is there are no losers! All the proceeds will benefit the Autism Society of Colorado. Ski around the mountain and visit the different dealers to pick up your hand and turn it in at the end of the day. There are tons of great prizes for the winners and it is all for a great cause!

The snow has started to fall here at Loveland Ski Area as a storm pushes in from the west. The forecast is still uncertain how much we may get although there is a chance for snow through the weekend. The skiing and riding here is already spring skiing at its best and with some fresh snow you don't want to miss out!


Loveland Valley Set to Close Sunday, May 4th
Now that spring is in the air The Loveland Valley is set to close for the season this weekend, Sunday, April 4th. The Loveland Ski & Ride School will continue to operate at the Basin through closing day, May 2nd.

New Belgium Brewery's On-Hill Scavenger Hunt Returns!
With weather patterns looking like a dry erase board at a 2-year-old's birthday party and temperatures hitting the mid-70's in January, can things get any weirder? New Belgium Brewery says yes, and they are willing to put their beer where your mouth is to prove it. We're happy to announce we're bringing back our on-hill Scavenger Hunt !

This is a day to don your best costume, chase chickens, search for bigfoot and answer some ridiculous riddles all while skiing, raising money for a great local non-profit, and bonding with your friends. Loveland Welcomes City Workers During Furlough Day !
The employees of the City and County of Denver are taking a mandatory furlough day on Friday, April 2. As a thank you to these employees for their sacrifice, Loveland Ski Area is excited to offer discount tickets to these employees and their immediate family on Friday, April 2, 2010. Spring skiing and riding is in full effect here at Loveland Ski Area complete with blue skies, sunshine and of course great snow! A small storm gave us over half a foot earlier this week and there is a chance we may get a little more in time for the weekend. Subaru Hosts Master the Mountain at Loveland!
Loveland is excited to host Subaru's Master the Mountain this weekend, March 27th & 28th. Subaru has created an event weekend dedicated to promoting a safe and enjoyable snowrider environment. Join us for mini-lessons with the Loveland Ski & Ride School at no cost, Nordica demos and an insight to Ski Patrol operations with an avalanche awareness and beacon training session. The first 100 Subaru's receive front row parking and Subaru will provide free popcorn, hot chocolate, coffee and giveaways for everyone. There is no cost to participate although a valid lift ticket is required.

After a week of beautiful sunny weather, a storm system is moving into Colorado and just in time for the weekend! The forecast is calling for the snow to begin falling tonight and by Saturday we may be looking at as much of a foot of fresh snow. Conditions have been great so far this spring and with the addition of some new snow, you are not gonna want to miss out.

Although we haven't had many large storms, the snow continues to come down steadily with an average of a foot of snow per week over the past month. The forecast is calling for a little bit of sunshine this weekend, so be sure to take advantage of all these great conditions with some beautiful weather.

March definitely came in like a lion this season with 11 inches of fresh powder on the 1st. After the storm the skies cleared and made for one of those perfect powder days at Loveland. March is usually our snowiest season and we all hope this past storm is a sign of things to come this month.

The forecast for this weekend is calling for a little more snow on Friday before it clears up and sun comes out. With sunny skies, warm temps and fresh snow it looks like Loveland is the place to spend your weekend!

Get Ready to Race at Loveland's Family Race Day
Loveland is excited to host a Family Race Day this Saturday, March 6th. Come out and challenge your friends and family to a fast and fun race at no cost. All ages, abilities and disciplines are invited to come and test your skills on a slalom style racecourse, which will be set up on Firecut off Chair 2. With March just a week away it looks as if El Nino is finally starting to pull through with the snow. We received nearly a foot of snow in the last week and with more in the forecast, it is going to be a great weekend at Loveland. On average March is our snowiest month of the season and after such a slow early season we are all looking forward to what could be an epic spring! Over a foot of fresh snow has fallen at Loveland this week and the mountain is offering the best conditions of the season...so far! Loveland has received measurable snow each of the last seven days and there is a storm on the horizon that could blanket Loveland with up to another foot of snow this weekend. Check out our forecast to figure out when you can get up to Loveland for some fresh powder this weekend.


Couples Celebrate Valentine's Day in Style at Loveland
This past Sunday, Valentine's Day, nearly 70 couples either got married or renewed their vows high atop the Continental Divide here at Loveland Ski Area. Not only did they participate in one of America's most unique events, but they were also treated with some of the best conditions of the season. Our resident photographer took almost 400 pictures of the event and posted some of the best on Shots of the Week while the rest can be found online at Loveland's Photo Album.

The Great Colorado Hose Relay Returns to Loveland
Loveland is excited to once again host The Great Colorado Hose Relay this February 27th. The Hose Relay is a slalom style race in which teams of 5 navigate the gates in fireman's coats and helmets, the whole while holding on to a 50 foot fire hose. This challenging event not only riles up the competitive nature of these teams, but also raises important funds for the St. Anthony's Children's Hospital Burn Clinic. Loveland Celebrates the Winter Olympics
Everyone here at Loveland is excited about the winter Olympics and not just because we love winter sports, but because some of the top competitors spent the early season training and competing here at Loveland Ski Area. Congratulations to Lindsey Vonn for her gold in the downhill and also to Julia Mancuso who collected her second silver of the 2010 games earlier today. She is now the most decorated female skier in Olympic history.

And let's not forget about Hannah Kearney, Shaun White and Shani Davis who all won gold in 2010. USA!
