After a week of frigid temperatures Mother Nature is giving us a break and some more snow too! The meteorologists can't quite agree on how much we can expect out of this storm, but the forecast is calling for the snow to start falling as soon as tonight an continue through the weekend. If everything works out the way we hope there might be some good powder days this weekend!

School of Mines Fraternity Hosts Fundraiser
Loveland is excited to host the men of Beta Theta Pi from the Colorado School of Mines this Saturday, February 5th for their annual Ski-a-Thon philanthropy event. Join us for a day of silent auctions, raffles, food and of course great skiing! Packages including lift ticket, lunch, raffle ticket and t-shirt will be available with all proceeds being donated to the St. Anthony's Hospital Helmet Donor Program. Tons of Fresh Snow Makes for Great Skiing and Riding!


Storm Drops 3 Feet of Snow on Loveland This Week!
The snow fell hard this week here at Loveland and nearly 3 feet of fresh snow was added to our slopes. With this latest storm our year-to-date snowfall total is now 232 inches! To put that number in perspective, on this day last year we only had 116 inches of natural snowfall.

Just in case you had any doubts about how great the conditions are, check out the pictures on the left taken this week by David Gidley, and this video taken on Tuesday. Since that video was filmed we received yet another foot of snow and the forecast is calling for up to a foot through this weekend! Make your plans to spend the weekend skiing one of Colorado's snowiest ski areas, Loveland!

Sports Shop Celebrates The Western Stock Show
In celebration of the Western Stock Show the Loveland Sports Shop is excited to host Rocky Mountain Snow Chaps this Saturday, January 22nd between 9:00am - 2:30pm. A snow storm is brewing in the west and heading our way with the possibility for some good accumulation over the holiday weekend. The forecast is calling for the snow to start falling tonight and continue through Monday, Martin Luther King Day. Take advantage of this long weekend by skipping the crowds and avoiding the extra drive time by choosing to ski Loveland!

Save $ on Lift Tickets at Offsite Locations!
Not only is the snow going to be great this weekend, but you can save some money on your lift tickets by purchasing them at one of our many off-site ticket sales locations. These locations include places like your local ski shop and even certain supermarkets! Visit our off site locations page to find a location near you and save some money. Intermountain Humane Society Needs Your Help
A recent outbreak at The Intermountain Humane Society of Pine Junction, Colorado has caused them to cancel a fundraiser scheduled to be hosted here at Loveland and left them with a huge financial strain and need your help now more than ever. They are taking donations of not just money, but items such a pet food, fleece blankets, cleaning equipment, grooming equipment and even toys. The Loveland Three Class Pass is one of the most affordable ways to learn and get a season pass to keep practicing your turns all season. Specialty Programs for Advanced Skiers and Riders
Not only does the Loveland Ski and Ride School offer Advanced Skills classes, but with the new A.T.A.C. Clinic you'll be master of the mountain in no time. The All Terrain, All Conditions Clinics focus on specific aspects of skiing such as powder, bumps, and off-piste. This class is only offered on select dates and reservations are required. Want to give yourself a new challenge?
The sport of Telemark skiing is a growing discipline and Loveland is happy to offer clinics in this classic form of the sport. Equipment can be rented from the Loveland Adventure Center and reservations are required for this half day clinic that includes a full day lift ticket.

Still Space Available in the Loveland Explorers Program!
The Loveland Explorers Program is a 6-week program for intermediate skiers and snowboarders ages 7-14. Small classes of no more than 6 students learn and explore with the same coach every week. The program includes full day lessons with lunch and a Season Pass! Earliest Chair 9 Opening in Years!


Earliest Chair 9 Opening in Years!

A lot of people have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Continental Divide's Chair 9 and yesterday saw one of the earliest Chair 9 openings in the lift's history! The snowfall so far this year has been above average and the 16" we received on Monday and Tuesday gave us what we needed to get The Ridge open. Chair 9 is currently providing access to Patrol Bowl and Rookie Road with the chance of more opening soon. Chair 9 will continue to operate for the 2010 - 2011 season as long as conditions permit.

The good news doesn't stop there; there is more snow in the forecast for this weekend! Meteorologists can't agree on exactly how much we may get, but keep an eye on the weather Friday night and Saturday because it could be a powder weekend. Be sure to sign up for our custom snow reports so you don't miss another powder day.


Family Race Day - Saturday, December 18th

Join us on Saturday, December 18th for the first Family Race Day of the 2010 - 2011 season! Last season's Family Race Day was hugely popular and this season we are excited to have a dual slalom course so you can race side-by-side against your friends and family. Medals will be awarded to the top finishers. All ages, abilities and disciplines are invited to register the morning of in the Subaru tent at the base of the Loveland Basin at no cost.


Freeride Team Informational Meeting and First Session!

The Loveland Freeride Team will host an informational meeting and their first session on the season this Saturday, December 11th at 8am in the North East Corner of the Basin Cafeteria. Join professional skier Eben Mond as you learn the basics of back country skiing, choosing lines through challenging terrain, skiing in all types of conditions and more. Family Race Day - Saturday, December 18th

Loveland brings back the popular Family Race Day. Gather your friends, family, coworkers or anyone else and challenge them to a slalom race for bragging rights and medals at the award ceremony. It's not often Loveland receives over 100" by December, but this season we have! Including the 4 inches that fell Wednesday night, our year-to-date total is 105 inches of natural snowfall! As you could probably imagine, with this much snow conditions are absolutely amazing. The weather forecast is calling for a chance of snow through the weekend, so be sure to sign up for our custom snow reports so you don't miss another powder day.

Rottefella and Telemark Skier visit Loveland to host the New Telemark Norm (NTN) demo. The demo will be set up in the front of the Basin parking lot and they will host an apres party in the Rathskeller featuring a telemark movie. There is not cost to participate, although a valid lift ticket and credit card and driver's license for deposit are required for deposit.
